From weather forecasting to cellular coverage to global imaging, we heavily rely on space satellites to give us the information we need. The growing amount of litter at varying levels above Earth’s atmosphere threatens not only these services, but the safety of astronauts in space and Earth’s own protective shell. We discuss the growing issue of human-created space debris and what more needs to be done to curb this problem before it reaches catastrophic levels.
