Its now been twenty-five years since the September 11th terrorist attacks. On that day, nearly three thousand people lost their lives. For Gibbs, and many of us, remembering nine-eleven transports us back to where we were and what we were doing that day.
That focus continued into his graduate work and he wrote a paper examining why nine-eleven happened and the extremist islamic forces behind it. But Gibbs says even then, the explanation didn’t feel complete.
