In President Biden’s State of the Union speech earlier this month, he addressed the many pitfalls of the current mental health care system. Millions of Americans are falling through the cracks and failing to get the consistent and comprehensive help they need. More so, the isolation of the pandemic has taken a big toll on young people as rates of depression, anxiety and other mental disorders have sharply risen in children and adolescents. What are the key areas that need to be fixed? Why is mental health just as important as physical health? We answer these questions and more this week on Viewpoints.
